SPRING 2009 BOCCI TOURNAMENT, The Battle of the Sexes.

It all began on April 6, 2009, when 97 FHF Men and Woman athletes (plus 12 subs) started playing Spring Bocci. Three leagues were formed, 2 day and one night, from which players, playing their best will get an opportunity once again, to play in the Spring Tournament. A drawing was made from the best 4 league teams and supplemented by 3 additional high standing teams, to staff the tournament teams. The Spring Tournament” is one in which the two best men-only teams play-off to determine the best overall men’s team and the the two best woman-only teams play-off to determine who the best overall woman’s team will be. The playoff determined the best woman team to be composed of Capt. Joan Flynn, Gloria Murphy, Lynn Hirst, and Marge Mancuso. The best men’s team was composed of Capt. Dave Hirst, Tom Mercer, Jack Nescio, and Claude Testar. Prior to the Championship game , “Battle of the Sexes”, both teams bulked up on hotdogs, sauerkraut, chips, pretzels, dough-holes, cookies and brownees, along with lemonade, iced tea, and coffee. After this break and this needed nourishment , both teams took to the courts again to “Do battle”. Both teams played like champions, but in the final point score, the men’s team came out victorious in this Tournament. A good time was had by all as seen by all the smiles below on both Championship teams.
