Construction on 202 in West Chester

(Information from Mike Scarpato, 3/03/2011)

Work Restarts March 13 to Rehabilitate Route 202 between Route 100 and High Street.

From Sunday, March 13 to Thursday, March 17, southbound Route 202 will be reduced from two lanes to one, each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

During the week of March 20 to March 24, work will start on Route 202’s northbound
lanes and ramps between the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and Route 100 interchanges. This work will also be done at night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Northbound Route 202 will be restricted to one lane during the overnight operation.

Crews will also work weekends to remove and replace deteriorated concrete from route 202, resulting in weekend-long lane closures from 10 p.m. Fridays to 5 a.m. Mondays.

The bridges along Route 202 that are being repaired under this project include the
Fernhill Road bridge over Route 202, and the Route 202 bridges over High Street,
Bolmar Street, Westtown Road, Route 3, Paoli Pike, and the dual structures carrying
Route 202 over the ramp to Route 322.

Update on Brinton Lake Bridge Closure and Detour

Brinton Lake Bridge Closure Moved Back until Spring

It was announced that the closure and detour of Brinton Lake Road has been postponed until May.

The road was originally slated to be closed and detoured starting Feb. 3 between Route 1 (Baltimore Pike) and Dilworthtown Road for the rehabilitation of the bridge over Chester Creek.

The rescheduling was requested by township officials in order to keep local snow emergency routes open to traffic throughout the winter.

When construction starts in May to rehabilitate the structurally deficient bridge, Brinton Lake Road through traffic will be detoured over Route 1, Route 202 and Dilworthtown Road. Local access will be maintained on Brinton Lake Road up to the construction area.
